Description
Himalayan pink salt is mined from salt deposits in the Potwar Plateau of Pakistani Punjab. Himalayan pink salt comes from an ancient sea salt deposit in sedimentary rock dating back 290-543 million years ago – so it is old. Some estimate there to be 6.7 billion tons of rock salt, of which 220 million are currently commercially viable, so there is quite a lot of salt to go for. Himalayan pink salt is 97-99% pure salt/NaCl, with a transparent pinky hue. The flavour of pink Himalayan salt is pungent, mineral with some spiciness tones to it. Use Himalayan pink salt like normal sea salt, but works well with game birds, venison steaks or ground as a finishing salt over steaks or steaks.
